Documents Required For France Schengen Visa

Schengen countries have set the standards for giving a valid visa. Hence they curated a list of necessary documents which you are required to submit depending on the type of visa you are applying for. Documents are the vital documents of a trip to a Schengen country and forgetting even a single document can lead to delays or even rejections which is undoubtedly a disappointment, right?

However, make sure to arrange the documents as per the France Schengen visa standards. 

Necessary Documents for getting a France visa

The France visa document requirements are as follows: 

APPLICATION FORMFully completed, error free and duly signed online application form 

RECENT PHOTOGRAPHS Two Identical photos taken within the last three months and they must adhere to the photo requirements set by Schengen countries. 

PASSPORTA valid passport issued within the last ten years and must be valid for at least three months after the departure from France. Older passports with visas on them (If you have) 

FLIGHT ITINERARYTrip reservations including dates and flight numbers specifying your arrival and departure from the country. 

TRAVEL INSURANCE Travel health insurance during your stay, with a  minimum  coverage of 30,000 euros in case of any medical emergency like accident, health issues, or death. 

ACCOMMODATION PROOF Showing your accommodation throughout the stay in France. It may be hotel or hostel booking, rental agreement or letter of invitation. 

FINANCIAL PROOFProof that you have sufficient funds in your bank account to support your stay financially in the country. This can be:

  • Bank Statement: Financial statement of last three months showing that you have enough money for the trip.
  • Sponsorship letter: In case a third person will be supporting your trip financially. This must be accompanied by a bank statement of the last three months. 

FOR EMPLOYED – Employed person needs:

  • Employment letter
  • Bank statement of last 6 months
  • Income Tax return 

FOR SELF EMPLOYED – 

  • Copy of Business license
  • Bank statement of last 6 months
  • Income tax return 

FOR RETIREE – 

  • Pension statement of last 6 months 

FOR STUDENTS – 

  • Enrollment letter
  • No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the university

FOR MINOR – The parents or legal guardian of minor applying for France visa must submit the following document for the minor applicant;

  • Birth certificate
  • Application form signed by both parents
  • Court order (In case of custody with one parent)
  • Copies of passport of both parents
  • Parental consent (If minor is traveling alone)

*** The embassy will be checking if these documents match the France visa requirements and Schengen standards. In case of fraudulent documents, your visa will be rejected. 

What if I fail to submit any document? 

Every document stated as per the visa requirements is a crucial element. In case you forget to bring any of the mandatory documents or fail to submit, you may be rejected immediately. 

However, some visa centre may ask you to fill and submit the application again or reapply without rejecting it – depending on their choice.
